Unused holiday leave can be carried over for next 2 years

Workers who don’t take all of their holidays because of the coronavirus crisis will be allowed to carry them over into the next two years, the Government has announced.

Most employees are entitled to 28 days’ annual leave including bank holidays, most of which cannot be carried between years, meaning any unused days will be lost.

Employers also face financial penalties for failing to ensure staff take their statutory entitlement in any one year. But under new regulations announced on Friday, workers will be allowed to carry up to four weeks of unused holidays into the next two leave years.
